Mother of Prince Shotoku which gave the name to this gentle land.

At Nochigahama beach, there is the statue of the Empress with young prince shotoku staring at Japanese sea.

When the fight of Yamato regime known as the "Battle of Soga-Monobe" occurred, mother of Prince Shotoku, Hashihito, went to the "village of Ohama" to avoid the confusion.

The empress was impressed by the hospitality of the people of the village at that time, so she gave the name of "Hashihito" to the land in appreciation, but the village people thought that is too awed to use the name of the Empress. so they started to call it Taiza to do with her leave.
